Regional defense and security leaders gathered in Barbados recently for a live demonstration of the Skyfront drone, hosted by the United States Military Group.
The event was attended by U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Karin Sullivan, who highlighted the growing role of drone technology in strengthening regional security and emergency response capabilities.
The demonstration showcased how Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, can support maritime surveillance, combat illicit trafficking, and improve disaster and crisis response efforts across the Eastern Caribbean.
Officials noted that advanced drone technology can provide real-time intelligence, enhance border monitoring, and assist authorities in responding more effectively to natural disasters and other emergencies.
The United States also reaffirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation with Caribbean nations by expanding information sharing, training opportunities, and technical support. The initiative is aimed at meeting the increasing demand for Uncrewed Aerial Systems while building stronger regional security partnerships.
The demonstration forms part of broader efforts by the United States and its Caribbean partners to enhance security collaboration and improve preparedness for evolving regional challenges.
