The longstanding historical ties between the United States and Barbados were recently celebrated through a series of activities highlighting George Washington’s time on the island.
From the Barbados Museum to George Washington House, participants explored an important chapter in the shared history of the two countries.
American historian Tony Williams joined the activities, delivering a public lecture and sharing his expertise on Washington’s stay in Barbados and the significance of that experience in American history.
The programme also featured an open house and special reception, providing opportunities for participants to learn more about the historical relationship between Barbados and the United States, exchange ideas and engage with the island’s heritage.
The activities formed part of the commemoration of Freedom 250, while also celebrating the enduring friendship and historical connections between the people of the United States and Barbados.
