The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy is hosting a Pre- and Post-Disaster Damage Assessment Training Programme on July 7–8, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Prevo Cinemall, Roseau as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and build a more resilient agricultural sector.
The two-day training forms part of the technical assistance project, “Enhancing the Sustainability and Resilience of the Agriculture Sector in the Commonwealth of Dominica,” funded by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) through the Caribbean Action for Resilience Enhancement (CARE) Programme. The CARE Programme is financed by the European Union under the African, Caribbean and Pacific–European Union Disaster Risk Reduction Programme.
The programme aims to strengthen the technical capacity of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy technical staff responsible for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. Participants will receive practical training in standardized approaches to assessing disaster-related damage and losses, collecting and analyzing data, preparing assessment reports, and supporting evidence-based recovery planning.
By improving institutional readiness and enhancing coordination among government agencies and key partners, the training will contribute to more timely and effective post-disaster decision-making, while supporting long-term resilience within Dominica’s agriculture sector.
The Ministry has invited representatives from government ministries, statutory organizations, emergency response agencies, the private sector, farmer organizations, and other key stakeholders whose roles are critical to national disaster risk management.
