Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Hon. Priya Manickchand, chaired the Ministry’s 20th Departmental Weekly Meeting, bringing together department heads and key personnel to review ongoing projects and discuss priority areas.
The meeting focused on updates related to the enhancement and management of markets and recreational spaces across Guyana. Discussions highlighted efforts to improve community facilities, support economic activity within local markets, and maintain safe and accessible recreational areas for residents.
Officials also explored opportunities for collaboration with organizations such as The King’s Foundation to support capacity building, community development, and sustainable local government initiatives.
The Ministry said the weekly meetings play a vital role in monitoring progress, addressing challenges, and ensuring coordinated action across departments as it works to strengthen local governance and community development throughout Guyana.
