Teachers across Grenada are taking part in a Virtual Reality Teacher Training Workshop, a professional development initiative aimed at enhancing classroom engagement and improving student learning through the use of innovative technology and teaching strategies.
The four-day workshop, which runs from July 13 to 16, brings together both secondary and primary school teachers. Secondary educators participated during the first two days, while primary school teachers are attending sessions during the final two days.
Participants are receiving hands-on training in the use of virtual reality (VR) technology, metacognitive learning strategies, and learner-centred instructional approaches designed to increase student engagement and create more interactive classroom experiences.
The workshop is being facilitated by Bernice Lewis, an onsite trainer and content creator from Saint Lucia, who is guiding educators through practical applications of immersive learning technologies.
The initiative is supported by JOIE Innovative Learning Solutions, Flow, the Liberty Caribbean Foundation, and the Grenada Ministry of Education.
The workshop forms part of a broader regional partnership between JOIE Innovative Learning Solutions and the Liberty Caribbean Foundation to advance digital learning in the Caribbean. The collaboration follows the success of pilot programmes in Saint Lucia, where the use of immersive learning technologies resulted in significant improvements in student academic performance.
At the end of the training, participants will receive Certificates of Completion in recognition of their participation and commitment to professional development.
The Ministry of Education says the initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to equipping teachers with innovative tools and modern teaching methods that will enhance learning outcomes for students across Grenada.
