Former Miss Dominica 2019, Marisol John, has added another remarkable achievement to her list of accomplishments after graduating from York University with a Master’s Degree in Biotechnology Management.
John completed the program in May and officially received her degree during York University’s 2026 Convocation Ceremony held on June 11 at Sobeys Stadium. Her achievement is particularly significant as she is among the first-ever graduates of the university’s newly introduced Biotechnology Management program.
A former top performer in both the Grade Six National Assessment and CSEC examinations, John said the journey was challenging but rewarding. She described the program as the perfect combination of her passion for science and her interest in business and management.
Holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology with a specialization in natural and traditional medicine research, John explained that the master’s program allowed her to strengthen her management skills while continuing her involvement in scientific research.
Currently working in the pharmaceutical industry, she is focused on gaining hands-on experience and expanding her knowledge of medicine, biotechnology, and research. Looking ahead, John says she hopes to one day lead a biotechnology company or startup.
When asked about her future plans, she emphasized her desire to make a meaningful impact, stating that she wants her life and work to positively influence the communities and industries she serves.
