Barcelona have completed the signing of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal on transfer deadline day.
The 29-year-old has joined the Spanish champions on a deal running until 2029, with Spanish media reporting a transfer fee of approximately 10 million euros, or US$11.6 million.
Jesus arrives at Barcelona following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres earlier this summer.
Barcelona had initially pursued Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, but turned to Jesus after Atletico reportedly refused to negotiate.
Speaking following his move, Jesus described joining Barcelona as a dream, saying he is physically fit and ready to give his best for the club.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has also welcomed the signing, saying Jesus’ style of football fits well with the team’s approach and that he believes the Brazilian can play an important role.
Jesus leaves Arsenal after four seasons, during which he scored 32 goals. He previously spent six years at Manchester City, scoring 95 goals.
The Brazilian becomes Barcelona’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
