A donation of 10,000 children’s books is helping to expand reading and learning opportunities for children in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago.
The books were donated by Trinidad and Tobago-based NGO Books Build Bridges and are being distributed to schools and libraries across the city to improve children’s access to reading material.
The donation also coincided with the launch of the Child-Friendly Literacy Initiative, aimed at strengthening literacy while encouraging greater involvement of children in their communities.
Young people also played an active role in the launch, with five IYAG members assisting with the event.
Organisers say the initiative will provide more opportunities for children to read, learn and explore while strengthening literacy efforts throughout San Fernando.
